Coal Power Facility Project

KEY has been contracted by a liability transfer company to manage the engineering and closure activities for a former Electric Generating Station in Ohio. This 1425 Megawatt unit operated for over 61 years. KEY will provide technical oversite for the environmental liabilities at the site including the Closure of the Coal Combustion Residue (CCR) ponds. As part of the closure, KEY is using its patent pending Sustainable Habitat Closure for the CCR. This innovative and cost effective approach has been approved by the Ohio EPA with construction slated for late 2017. Through this engineered program, the client will not only save millions of dollars, but they will be creating an ecological setting for migratory birds, hooved creatures, and other mammals.
